The Ladies and Their Body Guard

Our Ladies' Weekend last month featured two special little ladies, Maggie and Lydia, both nine months old (born just two days apart), and my one little guy.  Cael is about six weeks younger than his peers, but he seemed fully confident of his ability to take care of us all.  One of the many laughs in the weekend involved  several occasions where Cael would sit up after nursing, raise one fist in the air, and let out some sort of man growl.  The babies all did great and seemed to enjoy the extra one-on-one time with their respective moms.

A weekend puzzle seems to be developing into a fun tradition.  I didn't manage a picture of last year's, but I think it was of the bird variety.  Four of us (and one on-looker who refused to apply herself) worked on this five hundred piece challenge for about four hours straight, and we managed to finish it before midnight on Thursday.  Titus calculates the labor at 16 woman-hours.  In addition to such strenuous efforts, we enjoyed lots of chatting, a nice lunch at Yaya's, learning the card game Set, and several discussions centered on some of Elisabeth Elliot's and Sally Clarkson's writings.  I wish I would have taken more pictures, but I'm pleased with the few I got!

Prioritizing Made Easy

The wonderful people at Logos just made my Bible reading so much easier.  I'm probably the only one in the cyber-world that didn't know about this, but I just discovered that I can do my Bible reading online.  They send me a reminder each day, and when I click on it--voila!--there are my readings for the day in a very readable format.  So far it's been easy to just read it all first thing in the morning while I nurse Cael, but on the occasions when I get behind, I intend to go back to my plan for focusing on the Psalms, Proverbs, and New Testament for this year and the rest of the Old Testament next year.  That way it will be easier to get caught up again.


There are lots of effective ways to read Scripture.  One that seems the most flexible is to just have a bookmark for each section of Scripture you want to be reading (e.g. one for Old Testament and another for New) and move those place keepers along as you go.  However, being the lover of plans that I am, I have trouble getting away from reading on a schedule.  The trick is to find a reading schedule and time of day that work for whatever season of life I happen to be in.  So glad this little link popped into my life!

A Life Well Lived: Grandma's Memorial Video

Margaret Elizabeth Riches finished her race on this earth January 1 of this year and is now enjoying things that eye has not seen, nor ear heard.  This video was created for her memorial service by my talented cousin, Nathan.  We miss her and are very thankful for all the ways God used her to bless our family.
